As an Image Analysis Scientist, you will be a member of the Computational Biology Department, focused on improving and developing image analysis software and general data analysis software for high performance genomic analysis systems. You will be involved in the development and testing of new methods and algorithms and in their implementation. You will also participate in system development and the development of performance improvements for these genomic analysis systems.
Skills/Attributes:
- MSc in Computer Science, Math, Engineering or Natural Sciences; advanced degree is a plus.
- Scientific software development experience using C, C++.
- Research experience in image analysis techniques and statistical inference.

You will sustain, improve, develop and test existing and new applications for the Genome Analyzer high-throughput DNA sequencing system. Our clients' focus is on marine glycobiology and the isolation of unique molecules from marine sources, which have applications in anti-inflammatory therapies. The successful candidate will support all ongoing in-house compound discovery and in vitro screening. The role will involve isolation, purification and characterisation of marine molecules, predominantly glycans, using various chromatographic techniques. In addition, the candidate will give support to the screening section by undertaking cell culture maintenance and screening assays.
Skills/Attributes:
- Chromatography experience either through study, or through previous employment.
- Cell culture experience is desirable although training can be provided.
- Previous experience of Quality Assurance systems would be an advantage.
